Timothy Lee (Lee Hon Hung)
Born in the year of 1983 I have lived and grown up in the U.K. My earliest memories revolve around art and drawing, I am glad that it has stayed with me since. I graduated from Leeds Met with a Fine Art Degree in the summer of 06.
My parents are from Hong Kong and I visit annually, I imagine this is where the eastern undercurrent arises. Chinese scroll paintings, Kimono and Ukiyo-e prints heavily influence my work. I try to craft my work to reference these in some way. Like oriental art; composition and rhythm are paramount in my images. I like to think that what is shown has purpose and direction that accumulate and tie the artwork together. I am always looking for balance within each piece.
The mood of my illustrations has changed considerably from my early works. They now resonate a figurative and pattern based element. If there were a theme that runs through my work it would be beauty and violence or beautiful violence?
My work has been featured in the illustration book – Illusive 2 (die gestalten verlag)
I would like to give a special mention to my uncle Manson who continues to inspire and motivate.
Currently I am living and working in London, all I hear are sirens. |
