Matt Sewell originally hails from County Durham in the north-east of England and is currently based in Brighton. The 33-year-old illustrator/artistʼs work draws on his rural heritage, fusing bucolic, psychedelic landscapes with a symbolic treatment of animals, beautiful characters and fairytale-like narratives. Mattʼs favoured media have changed through the years, his natural style finding itself equally at home on peopleʼs feet with his own range of Gravis footwear, on animated adverts for 3 and the broadsheets of the Guardian and The Observer. Equally at home with watercolours, marker pens and computer generated illustrations for 55 DSL, Landrover, Honda, The BBC and K Swiss. Or in the form of his hand-painted murals, on the walls of large companies such as Puma, Selfridges, Magma and Topman Oxford Street. Matt has always produced a vast amount of personal work, which has seem him gain a large following around the world. His canvases and hand-printed screenprints are highly sought after; these, plus his involvement in the graffiti/street art movement have led to his work being featured in an array of publications including Scrawl, Art of Rebellion 2, and Los Logos.
