david s.blanco i began life in london england during that freezing winter of 1974...10th december if you care. The only child born to camilo and maria blanco, i was the first of the blanco family to be born abroad from my family roots in northern spain (galicia). after drawing pictures (mostly of haunted houses) on tables and most of my friends during the majority of my secondary school education i enlisted myself at central st martins art college where i graduated with a B.A honours degreein illustration and graphics during that hot summer back in 2000. after i graduated i began working on a few projects with a few people... ...worked for howies for a while, (howies is a clothing company from wales), i made a bunch of tee shirts for them as well as designing and illustrating their summer 2000 catalogue... ...during that period i also got involved making and art directing a few record sleeves for a handful of record labels i dealt with regarding my old rock band carver...during the periods of the summer 1999 and the fall of 2001 i designed and illustrated sleeves for indie rock bands stapleton, sunfactor, carver and a number of compilations for siesmic and year3 thousand records...i still make sleeves...have a couple of more mainstream efforts in the works...good artists too, that’s the main thing right? during the embryonic portion of 2001 i properly endorsed and legally registered the studio againstallodds collective i founded a while back, as well as my tee shirt project aptly named fulman...its time to get serious i thought. from here i began working with a load of editorial clients, clients ranging from F.H.M, the face, british airways magazine, the guardian, the observer and the independent, that was good because i had never been involved in working for magazines and newspapers before and it was cool to work on more editorial based matter... in the summer of 2001, i was asked by swedish event organisers stocktown to produce a bunch of animations, films and printable matter for a series of events that would enable my work to get displayed on sweden and japan...so i got my head down and produced an animation (see animator section), as well as promotional material ie - shirts and flyers, the event was a great thing and gave me some good exposure too...i like working on projects like that. i work and am based in north london, highbury. |
