I grew up on the Isle of Man and was fed a very healthy diet of 70's and 80's tv culture such as Evel Knievel, The Six million Dollar Man, Bruce Lee and Wonder Woman (who I really fancied). All the TV shows and the skateboard culture of the time that interested me seemed to happen in California my colour palette reflects this – I use positive, sunny, young, bright & playful colours.
I am constantly taking pictures and recording odd details which find their way into my work through a process of layering. Retro influences (including defunkt 70's and 80's radios and Atari style games) are mixed up with a love of pop art, cutting edge contemporary graphics and typography.
I now live in sunny Lewes, East Sussex, where I have attained my black belt in Illustration. |
